Festival of Russian Language and Culture Opens in Kigali
The first day of the three-day festival was held at Kigali Public Library. It included an opening ceremony, a live video call with a university in Russia, and performances of Russian poetry and folk costume.

The day started with an opening ceremony. Delegates from the Russian Embassy in Rwanda, the Ministry of Youth and Arts, and TSPU leadership were in attendance, followed by a keynote presentation titled “Russia: A Nation of Diverse People.” Several students spoke at the microphone, asking questions and sharing why they came to the festival.

Attendees included students from schools across Kigali, university students, professionals, and other guests interested in Russian language and culture.

In the afternoon, organizers held a live video call with Polytech, a university in Russia. Students and staff on both ends spoke directly with each other over the call.

The day ended with a cultural segment. Performers wore traditional Russian folk costumes and read Russian poetry, including a poem by Fyodor Tyutchev.
Days Two and Three of the festival take place on Friday and Saturday at Soma Foundation Rwanda's office, which is also Global Talent's location. Those days include scholarship seminars, cultural workshops, and the Russian Language Olympiad.
